Mexican national Febles Antonio remanded till Apr 11

Barrackpore, Apr 11 (UNI) A Sub Divisional Court here today extended the judicial remand of Mexican national Febles Ortiz Eduardo Antonio, who was arrested at NSCBI Airport on his way to Delhi from Bangkok on March 21, till April 19.

The 47-year-old accused was produced before Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate-in-charge Debasish Biswas today.

Antonio was arrested after the commander of the IC-854 handed him over to the police, following an emergency landing. The accused had threatened to blow up the plane, saying that a bomb was hidden under his seat.

The police registered a case against him under section 3(d)(a) of the Suppression of Unlawful Activities against Safety of Civil Aviation Act and sections 506, 507 and 323 of the IPC for criminal intimidation and voluntarily causing harm to others.

Earlier, Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Gopal Karmakar had denied him bail and remanded him till April 11.
