Major fire in Padmavathi Amamavaru temple averted
Tirupati, Apr 11 (UNI) Swift action by the Tirumala-Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) security staff to put out the fire in the kitchen of the Padmavathi Ammavaru temple in Tiruchanoor, near here last evening averted a major mishap.
TTD sources here today said, the incident occurred when the cooks engaged in the preparation of laddus tried to pour more ghee into a cauldron kept on a huge burning oven. The spilling of ghee into the oven caught fire and soon engulfed the greasy walls of the kitchen.
The alert security staff rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control with the help of fire extinguishers installed in the kitchen. The staff also disconneted the LPG cylinder and removed other cylinders kept outside the kitchen.
Meanwhile, fire tenders from Tirupati rushed to the temple and extinguished the blaze.
The TTD would take immediate steps to strengthen the fire control measures, sources added.
