Udupi, Apr 11 (UNI) Kannada Sahitya Parishat (KSP) President Dr Chandrashekar Patil today demanded that the Karnataka Government exhibit its pro-Kannada commitment by taking stern action against those private schools which have flouted the State language policy.

Addressing a press conference here, he said the Government had derecognised 2,215 schools for not complying with the State language policy by teaching in English medium after getting the approval for starting Kannada medium schools. Some private school managements have moved the Supreme Court against this order.

Dr Patil exuded confidence that the verdict on the issue would be in favour of the Government's language policy.

Urging the Government to come out with a clear cut stand on the issue, he said the Government should show firmness in the matter by derecognising all the errant schools without yielding to any pressure. If the Government failed to take stern steps, KSP would seriously think of renewing its State-wide agitation, he warned.
