KOWS creates 'First Convenience Physio Wheel Chair'
Visakhapatnam, Apr 10 (UNI) City based Krushi Orthopaedi Welfare Society(KOWS) founder and renowned Orthopedic Surgeon NVS Kiran Kumar today said the society had created the 'First Convenience World Chair' for the disabled in 1987 and now created the 'First Convenience Physio Wheel Chair'.
Talking to newspersons here, he said the society developed the wheel-chair, keeping in mind the needs of physically challenged people, who were suffering from arthritis, fractures and paralysis.
Dr Kumar said Sramajeevi Charitable Hospital and Rehabilitation Centre in the city had rendered assistance to the physically challenged people with the help of Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority(VUDA).
The surgeon said that the society also created awareness on the importance of maintaining health and emphasised on 'Disaster Management'.
He said 'prevent polio messsage' through the polio affected to normal children was a direct message to the parents, a novel method adopted by the society. 'Sramajeevi Spinal Care Centre' was recently established to rehabilitate spinal cord affected patients, he added.
The wheelchair would be useful for patients while undergoing phsiotherapy treatment, he said and added that encouraged by positive response, KOWS was also planning to develop a tricycle to facilitate the process for patients.
Dr Kumar said Kows was also looking for sponsors to distribute the wheelchairs for Rs 4,500 each.
The society was planning to establish a workshop for the manufacture and designing of new innovative aids and appliances for the betterment of the physically challenged people. The society was also planning to set up a vocational college, exclusively for the physically challenged, he added.
