Kodagu local bodies elections on May 13
Madikeri, Apr 11: Elections to one Municipal Council and three Town Panchayats in Kodagu District will be held on May 13.
Consequent to the announcement of the elections political activity in the district has gone up considerably with political parties holding meetings to decide on the strategy. While a few parties face internal conflicts, Bharatiya Janata Party and Janata Dal(Secular) leaders were worried over whether to go in for election independently or jointly to fight the Congress.
Last date for filing nominations would be on May two and May five will be the last date for witdrawls. The counting would begin on May 15 and the results would be declared on May 24.
The Madikeri City Municipal Council has 22,638 voters in 31 wards. Kushalnagar Town Panchayat has 10,416 voters in 13 wards.
Somwarpet Town Panchayat has eleven wards with 5638 voters and Virajpet Town Panchayat has 12,014 voters with 16 wards.
