India provides NRs 7.1 crore assistance to Nepal

Kathmandu (Nepal), Apr 11: India has provided an assistance of about NRs 7.1 crore to Nepal for building nursing campuses, schools, specialised nursing resources, healthcare and infrastructure development.

Indian Ambassador to Nepal Shiv Shankar Mukherjee today inaugurated the newly-constructed building of Janakpur Nursing Campus and Shree Sankat Mochan Dev Sharan Ram Rati Secondary School, built with grant assistance of NRs 2,80,42,119 and NRs 1,74,87,922 respectively.

Considering the tremendous demand for nurses in Nepal, Government of India provided assistance for the construction of Janakpur Nursing Campus and Shree Sankat Mochan Dev Sharan Ram Rati Secondary School in the country.

The projects were implemented by the Department of Urban Development and Building Construction, Dhanusha.

The new infrastructure would create an improved environment for learning in the school and contribute to the development of education in the area.

These projects are among the seven development projects, including five educational ones, currently being undertaken by Government of India in district Dhanusha. In addition, five ambulances have been gifted by Government of India to various organisations in that district.

Meanwhile, Mr Mukherjee laid the foundation stone for the new building and compound wall of Shree Tapsi Baba Secondary School at Tilhi in Sonigama VDC of District Dhanusha, being constructed with a grant assistance of NRs 2,64,62,312.

Mr Mukerjee underlined the importance of human resource development for Nepal' s overall progress and noted that the primacy being given to educational and health infrastructure as part of the India-Nepal Economic Cooperation Programme was in accord with this priority.

He added that the various cooperation initiatives being undertaken under the India-Nepal Economic Cooperation Programme were reflective of the strength of friendship between the two countries.

Currently, under the ongoing bilateral economic cooperation programme between India and Nepal, more than 190 projects are being realeased in the sectors of education, health, community development and infrastructure covering almost all the districts of Nepal with an outlay of over NRs 2,000 crore.
