Hailstorm damages 571 houses in Meghalaya's West Khasi Hills dist
Shillong, Apr 11 (UNI) At least 571 houses were damaged and 3,426 people affected after hailstorm lashed Meghalaya's West Khasi Hills district.
West Khasi Hills District Deputy Commissioner F Kharlyngdoh today told UNI by telephone that more than 20 villages have been affected due to the hailstorm which hit on April 9.
He, however, said that there were no human casualties.
Mr Kharlyngdoh said the villages most affected are Mawskuin, Mawbri, Marang, Mainop, Mawkhiat and Laitkseh.
The Deputy Commissioner said that immediate relief had been given to the affected people and the district administration would submit a report to the government.
