Guj Govt concocting evidence, alleges Rights body
Ahmedabad, Apr 11 (UNI) The investigating officer of the Godhra carnage, Noel Parmar today submitted before the Nanavati Shah Commission that the chain-pulling system in all the 18 bogies of the Sabarmati Express train could be operated from inside and outside the coaches.
In an affidavit filed before the Commission, which is probing the February 2002 carnage and the riots that broke in its aftermath, Mr Parmar said he had made inquiries from the Section Engineer of the Railways who had certified that the chain pulling could be operated both from inside and outside the coaches.
In reply to a specific query, he said the brakes of S7 were same as that of the burnt S6.
This clarification came following the Commission's directive last week to the government to file a fresh affidavit in this regard.
The government had last week said vacuum brakes could be activated from outside by raising the 'CAM', a lever, quoting the deposition of Senior Section Engineer Gangaram Rathod.
