Govt cancels land allotted to Reddy's son

Hyderabad, Apr 11 (UNI) The Andhra Pradesh government today cancelled the orders allotting 487 acres of land to Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy's son Jagan Mohan Reddy for establishing a cement factory in Kadapa district.

Talking to newspersons here, after the cabinet meeting, state Information and Public Relations Minister Mohd Ali Shabbir said the cabinet had approved the cancellation of the land allotted to Mohan Reddy.

Stating that the land concerned would be sold through a public auction, Mr Shabbir said the government had allotted the land to Raghuram Cement Company, in which Jagan Mohan Reddy was one of the directors, at the rate of Rs one lakh per acre.

The government had fixed Rs 50,000 as basic rate per acre in the auction.

The government decided to cancel the allotment orders, following strong objections from the Opposition parties.
