Four killed, three injured in HP

Shimla, Apr 11 (UNI) At least four people were killed and three injured in two separate road accidents in Himachal Pradesh during the last 24 hours, police sources said.

Two people were killed and three seriously injured after their jeep fell into a gorge at Ghatgarh, three km from Banjar, in Kullu district yesterday.

The sources said the accident occurred when the driver of the vehicle, on way to Ghatgarh from Banjar, lost control and the jeep rolled off the mountainous road.

Three people, identified as Gopal Singh, 30, Thakur Singh, 35, and Tala Devi, 30, were admitted to a government hospital at Rampur, they said.

The sources said the dead have been identified as Uttam Chand, 30, and Tela Devi, 28 and added that the district administration has announced an immediate relief of Rs 5,000 each to the next of the kin of the dead and Rs 1,000 each to the injured.

In another road accident in the state, two people were killed after their truck fell into a gorge at Dhalec on the Shanvera-Dhamla road in Sirmaur district, the sources said.

The dead have been identified as driver Dinesh Kumar, 23, and Rohit Sharma, 15.

The sources said the district administration has announced an immediate relief of Rs 5,000 each to the next of the kin of the dead.

The cause of the accident was, however, not immediately known, he said, adding that a case has been registered and investigations were on.
