Fire in airport, one employee burnt

Indore, Apr 11 (UNI) A 58-year-old employee of the Devi Ahilyabai airport sustained severe burn injuries when dry grass near the runway of the airport caught fire.

Airport Director R K Singh said a major accident was averted at runway seven, as no flight was scheduled at that time.

The airport's fire brigade controlled the fire within alf-an-hour.

A fire brigade tender from the city was also pressed into service.

The fire was controlled by two tankers.

Manohar Singh was performing his duties nearby when he saw the fire and began to run but stumbled on a stone and was burnt.

He was admitted to the Maharaja Yashwantrao hospital.
