Elaborate security for Rajkumar's death anniversary
Bangalore, Apr 11 (UNI) The city police have made elaborate security arrangements to avoid any untoward incidents during the first death anniversary of Kannada matinee idol Rajkumar tomorrow.
Commissioner of Police N Achyuta Rao said 30 platoons of Karnataka State Reserve Police, 25 platoons of Central Armed Reserve, two platoons of Rapid Action Force and over 12,000 civil police would be deployed across the city.
''We have rounded up anti-social elements and will post policemen in most places of the city in view of several functions to be organised by various organisations tomorrow. Severe action will be taken against anyone trying to indulge in any unlawful activity,'' he warned.
The city had witnessed unprecedented violence and arson following the death of the thespian on April 12 last year. Six people, including a policeman, were killed and property worth crores of Rupees damaged in the violence.
Police had come under flak for not anticipating the gravity of the situation, which saw thousands of mourning fans coverging in the city to catch a last glimpse of their matinee idol, and not making adequate arrangements.
