Deloitte India Launches Private Equity Practice in India
Mumbai, Apr 11 (UNI) With a view to cash in on the lucratrive private equity practive in India, Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu India Private Limited (DTTIPL) today launched a specialist Private Equity practice here.
The new company, 'Deloitte Corporate Finance Services India Pvt Ltd (DCF)' proposes to work closely with DTTIPL's Asia Pacific regional practice and UK and US member firms of Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu (DTT) and the rest of the DTT network.
Interestingly, a partner with Deloitte, Timothy Mahapatra told UNI, ''My dad hailed from Orissa, so in a way I share a special bond with this country.'' Responding to a query regarding their growth prospects in India, he explained, ''At the moment, India is at a stage in which UK was 10 years ago. The market has yet to mature, but it will see maximum growth rate during this phase, till it reaches maturity. Currently, Asia is the biggest market for all global players, among which China and India are the two prominent tigers.'' With respect to the pros and cons of investing in India and China, he said ''In China, the political set-up is such that the the level of transparency is far from satisfactory. On the other hand, in India the corporate laws are better developed. The corporate disclosure standards and norms here are almost to global standards.'' ''We will provide specialist services to meet individual client needs in the Private Equity space which includes Financial Due Diligence, Bid Support, Sale&Purchase agreement advisory and Completion Accounts work'' Managing Director of DCF, Sandeep Gill explained.
