CD controversy is a conspiracy against BJP: Advani
Gandhinagar, Apr 11 (UNI) Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha L K Advani today termed the controversial ''secular CD'' issue as a ''Conspiracy against the BJP'' to malign its rising popularity.
Addressing a women's rally at Dehgam near here today, Mr Advani said the CD controversy was raised by political rivals who have panicked due to the victories of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the recent assembly and civic elections in Punjab, Uttar Pradesh and Mumbai.
Without naming the Congress, the BJP leader said the issue was fabricated by rivals to malign the BJP's image. ''It is a political gimmick,'' he said, while remarking, ''If one player makes a mistake, that does not mean that the entire team should be punished.'' Praising Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi, Mr Advani said Mr Modi has successfully ''established Ram Rajya in Gujarat and converted it into a model state for good governance.'' Those present at the function included Mr Modi, State Education Minister Anandiben Patel and Minister of State for Industries Anil Patel. Union Textiles Minister Shankarsinh Vaghela could not make it to the function.
