Body of missing person recovered in South Kashmir

Srinagar, Apr 11: Jammu and Kashmir police recovered the body of a person, missing for the past six months in south Kashmir.

An official spokesman said people at Kakpora in south Kashmir district of Pulwama reported local police about a grave on the back side of a house.

Police immediately exhumed the body which was later identified as that a Abdul Rahim Wagay, who was reported missing for the past six months.

Police believed that Wagay was killed by some unidentified people and later buried him behind his own house.

Meanwhile, about two dozen relatives of people disappeared in the Kashmir valley during the past 17 years, staged a dharna at Partap Park near here.

''We want to know about our relatives who went missing after their arrests by security forces, they said.

The Association of Parents of Disappeared Persons (APDP) have decided to organise similar protests on tenth of every month in against the government's failure to provide them any information about their missing relatives.

The APDP said more than stood people went missing after their arrest by the security forces. However, Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) said the number of such persons is 10,000.

Police have recently arrested eleven police officials, including two senior officers for their alleged involvement in the killing of four people at Ganderbal.
