BJP for seeking SC permission for Balli's participation in sessio
New Delhi, Apr 11 (UNI) The Bharatiya Janata Party today urged the Speaker of Delhi Legislative Assembly Prem Singh to seek permission of the Supreme Court to allow party MLA Harsharan Singh Balli, who was yesterday sentenced to three months of imprisonment, to take part in the ongoing Budget session of the House.
The issue rocked the House as soon as it met after a 20-day recess with the Opposition BJP describing Mr Balli as one who had made sacrifices for saving the people of Delhi for sealing.
''As an MLA of the Legislative Assembly, Mr Balli has a right to take part in the session. In any case, any obstruction caused in the way of a member taking part in a session of the House amounts to an infringement of his basic rights,'' Leader of the Opposition in the Delhi Legislative Assembly Jagdish Mukhi said.
Responding to the members, the Speaker said he had requested the Apex Court that Mr Balli, who surrendered before the Police yesterday and was sent to the Tihar central Jail, be allowed permission to take part in the important Budget session of the Assembly.
