ATSUM calls for strike from April 18

Imphal, Apr 11 (UNI) The All Tribal Students' Union Manipur (ATSUM) has called for a strike and economic blockade from April 18 demanding the appointments of ST candidates to fill up vacant posts of teachers.

ATSUM also demanded its involvement in the implementation of Rs 15 crore project under the Special Plan Assistance for education sector in the state.

Earlier the union had called off their stir in January following Assembly polls in February.

The ATSUM members said they would, however, wait for a positive response from the government till April 17.

ATSUM assistant secretary Apao Haokip have alleged that despite several protest, demonstrations and deals inked by the government, not a single demand was fulfilled.
