AIADMK, MDMK protest wearing black
Chennai, Apr 11 (UNI) Members of the Opposition AIADMK and its ally MDMK, today came to the Tamil Nadu Assembly wearing black shirts to register their protest against the violence that broke out during the local bodies polls in October last year.
The AIADMK chose to register their protest today, when the House took up the demand for grants for Local Administration Department, to which former Chennai Mayor M K Stalin is the Minister.
Several AIADMK members wore white dhoti and black shirts, while some of them were attired in full black dress. Women AIADMK members were dressed in black sarees.
Speaker R Avudaiyappan refused permission and expunged the remark made by Mr S Gnanasekaran (Congress), when he sought to raise the matter in the house.
Elections to the Chennai Corporation in October last year was marred by widespread violence, booth rigging and various malpractices, which was condemned by the Madras High Court.
