31 nominations rejected for Phase V, 182 file for phase VI in UP

Lucknow, Apr 11 (UNI) Altogether 31 nomination papers were rejected during scrutiny for phase-V elections in 58 Assembly seats where polling is slated for April 28.

Now 936 candidates are in the fray while April 13 is the last date for withdrawal of canditure for phase-V.

A total of 555 candidates have filed their nominations for phase-VI where polling in 52 Assembly seats will be held on May 3.

Candidates can file their nominations till April 12, scrutiny of papers will be held the next day and last date for is withdrawal April 16.

Today, for Phase VI, a total of 182 candidates filed their nominations.

By-elections to the two Lok Sabha seats, Robertsganj(reserved) and Mirzapur, would also be held along with the sixth phase polling where eight nominations each have been filed so far.

For phase-IV, a total of 929 candidates are in the fray for 57 Assembly seats where polling will be held on April 23.

In the third phase, 863 candidates are in the fray for 58 assembly seats going to poll on April 18, while in the second phase of polling to be held on April 13, altogether 883 candidates are in the fray for 58 seats.

In the first phase of polling on April 7, fate of as many as 839 candidates were sealed in the EVMs where over 46 per cent of voters had cast ballots in 62 seats spread over 13 districts.
