Withdraw MPD 2021, prepare new Master Plan: Delhi BJP to Reddy

New Delhi, Apr 10 (UNI) Stating that the result of the MCD polls had totally dismissed the new Master Plan 2021 framed by the the Centre, the Delhi BJP has demanded that the MPD 2021 be withdrawn and a new Master Plan should be framed.

In a letter written to the Union Urban Development Minister S Jaipal Reddy, BJP Delhi Pradesh President Harsh Vardhan has demanded that the Master Plan 2021 should be withdrawn after declaring it cancelled.

''In view of the actual needs of Delhi and the people of Delhi a new Master Plan should be framed and implemented with the consent of the Supreme Court so that Delhi and the people of Delhi may get relief,''the letter said.

''By rejecting this Master plan, the voters of Delhi have defeated the Congress and expressed its trust in the BJP. The Congress Party and the Central Government should not be rigid. It should withdraw the misleading Master Plan 2021 so that the case going on in the Supreme Court regarding this Master Plan may come to end,'' Dr Harshvardhan said.

The BJP Pradesh President said in the new Master Plan there should be strict provisions for future besides the provision of Amnesty in it so that no land mafia may be able to grab public land in Delhi.

''The people of Delhi should also respect the laws regarding land and buildings. Delhi may become a prosperous, pollution free, encroachment free and green city. For this purpose it is essential that leaving aside all the bias and political compulsions, the Central Urban Development Ministry should prepare a foolproof Master Plan immediately with the consent of the Supreme Court,''he said.

Asserting that the BJP was totally against sealing and demolition, Dr Harshvardhan said it had fought the election on the issues of sealing, demolition, price spiral, lack of basic amenities, power, scarcity of water, inflated bills, corruption, bribery, anti people decisions and unreasonable taxes.

''The people have accepted the issues of the BJP. This is the reason why 164 candidates of the BJP have been elected. The Congress had to face shameful defeat. The Congress had fought the election on the issues of Master Plan 2021 and the so called development of the Delhi Government.

Big advertisements were published in the newspapers, but the people rejected them. Now it is the responsibility of the Congress that it should come up with new Master Plan,''Dr Harshvardhan said.

Regretting the punishment awarded to Party Legislator Harsharan Singh Balli in contempt of Court for breaking seals, the BJP Delhi chief said,''Congress is fully responsible for sealing and demolition which did not take this issue seriously. It framed such a defective Master Plan for the sake of votes which neither provided relief to the people of Delhi nor satisfied the judiciary.

The Delhi Legislative Assembly had also passed a resolution that sealing and demolition are against the interests of the people of Delhi. In such situation awarding punishment only to Mr Balli is unjust,''he said.
