Venkaiah say Kalyan Singh to be UP's next CM
Ghazipur, Apr 10 (UNI) Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Venkaiah Naidu today said the party will win a majority in the ongoing Uttar Pradesh assembly poll and added Mr Kalyan Singh will be the next Chief Minister of the state.
''Over the years, BJP's mass base has increased, therefore, I am sure wewill win the assembly poll,'' the former BJP president said while addressing an election gathering here.
Expressing concern over the 'dismal' condition in eastern UP, he said the problem of poverty and unemployment are pervasive in the region, therefore, efforts will be made to usher in development, if the BJP comes to power.
He demanded the Election Commission (EC) to shift controversial independent MLA Mukhtar Ansari and Samajwadi Party (SP) MP Afzal Ansari from Ghazipur jail toprevent them from influencing the poll.
Assailing the opposition, Mr Naidu said ''it seems they have got nothing else in life except to unnecessarily slam BJP in the CD case. The BJP leaders are innocent and even the police has no evidence about them,'' he added.
