Tension in KGF over Minister praising Tamilians

Kolar Gold Fields, Karnataka, Apr 10 (UNI) Tension prevailed as a faction of Janata Dal (Secular) workers and Kannada activities indulged in attacking each other today.

The trouble started when former Kannada Sangha President took objection to Minister Alangur Srinivas praising Tamilians at a function organised to felicitate him.

Gurushanthappa was manhandled by JD-S workers after more than 30 minute verbal duel between him and the Minister. Protesting to the manhandling about 150 Kannada activities raised objection to the Minister's speech praising Tamilians started shouting slogans against him.

Police intervened and pacified both the sections of the people.

The Minister left the venue after completing his speech.

Situation was stated to be tense but under control.
