TDP activists lathi-charged after violent protests over Babhali dam
Nanded, Maharashtra, Apr 10 (UNI) Telgu Desam Party (TDP) activists were lathi-charged after they indulged in heavy stone-pelting at Babhali dam site, near here, today.
A large number of TDP activists, including party MLAs, reached the Babhali dam site and held demonstrations by shouting slogans against Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh and Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh.
The activists were calm and peaceful. However, they turned violent this evening and indulged in stone-pelting.
The neighbouring Andhra Pradesh State had raised objections to the construction of Babhali dam on Godavari river.
