Study water contamination within 15 days: Officials

Madikeri, Apr 10: Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Sundar Naik has instructed the officials concerned to study the contamination level in drinking water in Kodagu district within 15 days and submit a report to him.

Addressing a meeting of officials at his chambers, he said reports of diseases were being received from many parts of the district and water could be the source of it. The cause of the diseases should be investigated within four days, he directed.

Mr Naik asked the officials to send water samples to the Zilla Panchayat for testing. People should be made aware of the dangers of drinking stagnant water.

Authorities have been asked to maintain cleanliness around water sources and check water tankers for hygiene, he added.
