Strike forces Jammu University to defer exams

Jammu, Apr 10 (UNI) The ongoing strike by the non-teaching staff at its affiliated colleges, which entered the sixth consecutive day today, forced the University of Jammu to postpone the BA Part-I exam of various courses across the Jammu region.

The examination to be conducted at all the 197 centres, where BA part-I students of 34 colleges had to appear, has been cancelled and fresh dates for the examination would be announced by the University at a later stage.

''All the exams of B A Part-I have postponed till the strike of non-teaching staff is not called off. We hope government would take some decision in this regard very soon so that the career of the students may not suffer,'' Vice chancellor Jammu University Prof.

Amitab Matoo said.

According to sources, the representatives of all J&K colleges non-teaching employees association would meet minister of state for higher education Ajaz Ahmed Khan who has reportedly invite them for talks.
