Steps taken to control spread of chicken pox: Minister
Chennai, Apr 10 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Health Minister K K S S R Ramachandran today said the government had taken adequate precautionary measures to control the spread of chicken pox in the state.
Replying to a special call attention motion in the Assembly given notice of by the AIADMK, PMK and the CPI(M) he said, as a preventive measure, the government had supplied medicines to all the hospitals well in advance to meet the needs.
He said normally, chicken pox occured between January and May.
Considering this, all steps have been taken to control the disease and prevent its spread.
Mr Ramachandran also denied the charge there were shortage of medicines in hospitals leading to the spread of the disease.
Stating that the number of chicken pox cases had come, he said and added in the Communicable Diseases Hospital at Tondiarpet only 45 people were admitted for treatment this year.
