Steps being taken to provide old age pension
Puducherry, Apr 10 (UNI) The administration would take steps to provide old age pension to the wives of those drawing government pension on attaining the age of 55, Chief Minister N Rangasamy told the Legislative Assembly today.
Replying to a question, Mr.Rangasamy said the administration had brought down the eligibility age to draw old age pension from 60 to 55 years and the amount was enhanced to Rs 600 a month.
All applications pending before the department would be cleared after inspection by a committee.
He also said the birth certificate was being sought as age proof and in its absence, a doctor's certificate would be enough.
