Punjab govt enhances DA by six per cent
Chandigarh, Apr 10 (UNI) The Punjab government today enhanced the rate of dearness allowance (DA) payable to the state government employees from 29 per cent to 35 per cent.
The increase would come into effect with effect from January 1, this year on the pattern of Central Government Employees.
Announcing this here today Finance Minister Manpreet Singh Badal said that the increase of six per cent DA would put additional liability of Rs 272 crore on the state exchequer for the current financial year.
He said that the arrears of the DA till May 31 this year would be deposited in the GPF of the employees and would be paid in cash from June 1, this year.
