Police unearth racket of illegal mining
Jamnagar, Gujarat, Apr 10 (UNI) Police today unearthed a racket of mass scale illegal minings of Bauxite and other minerals from the district and arrested eight people in this connection along with Bauxite and mining equipment worth Rs 4.80 crore.
Police said here that Kalyanpur police carried out raids at Mota Hasota and Virpar villages, about 100 kms from here, and arrested eight people while mining illegally in the district.
Raiding police party also recovered 1.20 lakh metric tonnes of Bauxite, valued at about Rs four crore and also seized equipment worth Rs 80 lakh from them, police added.
Police said the illegal minings were being carried out by a local mining company - Ashapura Company.
Police have lodged a complaint against the owners of the company.
More arrests are likely to take place in this connection, police added.
