Notorious extortionist nabbed near Ambala
Ambala, Apr 10 (UNI) Notorious extortionist Surinder alias Ganja the ring leader of a gang which had terrorised property dealers in Ambala Cantonment, was nabbed at Mohra bus stand, near here, last night, police said today.
Superintendent of Police Amitabh Dhillon told reporters here that the special team of Maheshnagar Police Station arrested the criminal on information that he was coming here from Delhi and would meet his gang member near here.
Two police teams, formed to nab Ganja, who was demanding Rs 50,000 from his latest victim Sunil Sethi, a property dealer, reached Mohra, Mr Dhillon said.
The criminal somehow sensed their presence and tried to escape but was overpowered by the team members.
Maheshnagar SHO Rajesh Phogat said that Ganja was apprehended after four days of continuous patrolling of the area where he was scheduled to meet his accomplice.
He said that two of his gang members Ashish Negi and Sahil Gupta, who used to recover ransom money at the instance of Ganja from the parties, had already been arrested.
