Non bailable warrants for three Today Homes officials

Ludhiana, Apr 10 (UNI) A local court today issued non-bailable warrants for three officials of Today Homes and Infrastruture in the multi crore Ludhiana City Centre scam, in which former chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh is one of the accused.

The warrants were issued by Chief Judicial Magistrate, Kuldip Singh after hearing the counsel of the State Vigilance Bureau probing the scam. Warrants were issued against S A H Naqvi, Saurab Gupta and Sanjiv Kumar. Another accused in the case is former Punjab Congress Chief H S Hanspal.

Last Saturday the court had issued similar warrants against former local bodies minister and Congress leader Choudhry Jagjit Singh, former Ludhiana Improvement Trust (LIT) chairman Paramjit Singh Sibia and Capt Rajesh, a Congress leader. The City Centre project which is still under construction was taken up during the tenure of the previous Congress government headed by Capt Singh.

Capt Singh who returned from the UK yesterday has already been granted anticipatory bail till July by the Punjab and Haryana High Court.

The case was registered at Ludhiana last month by the Vigilance Bureau under various sections of the IPC and Prevention of Corruption Act. A total of 18 persons have been named in the FIR, including senior officials of Today Homes that executed the project under the supervision of the Improvement Trust.

So far two persons, both members of a consultantcy group hired by Today Homes have been arrested in the scam.
