No ban on Jallikattu: Karunanidhi

Chennai, Apr 10 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi today indicated in the State Assembly that his government would not ban ''Jallikattu'' (taming of bulls), during temple festivals in various parts of the State.

Responding to Mr Amaramurthy (Congress) that the police was not giving permission for ''Jallikattu'' during temple festivals, Mr Karunanidhi said, ''we will not stop acts of bravery,'' virtually ruling out a ban.

However, he said, at the same time necessary precautionary measures had to be taken to prevent deaths during ''Jallikattu''.
