MCD poll results a referendum against Sheila Dikshit Govt: Mukhi

New Delhi, Apr 10 (UNI) Reiterating that the BJP's thumping victory in the MCD elections was a referendum against the Sheila Dikshit Government, Leader of the Opposition in the Delhi Legislative Assembly Jagdish Mukhi today said Delhiites has cast their votes against shortage of electricity, water, sealing, corruption and price rise.

''Chief Minister Dikshit has lost moral grounds to continue.

So she should step down on her own,''Dr Mukhi told mediapersons here.

Speaking after a meeting of the BJP legislature party, Dr Mukhi said the legislature party had taken a decision that the BJP MLAs would raise in the budget session of the Delhi Legislative Assembly beginning tomorrow the issues of electricity, water, liberalisation of liquor policy cleanliness of the Yamuna, price rise and regularisation of unauthorised colonies.

''For this they have asked for a short discussion on these issues,''Dr Mukhi said.

''It is the beginning of summer, but there are hours of power cuts everywhere in Delhi. After four years of privatisation of electricity, there is still an acute shortage of electricity.

Delhiities are getting inflated bills and there is no one to listen to consumers for correction of the same. Further, on the arbitrary working of the DISCOMs, the Delhi Govt is a mute spectator. BJP will raise this issue with full force,'' Dr Mukhi said .

Dr Mukhi said only 50 per cent of the people in Delhi were getting potable water.

''At many places, people are getting potable water just for half an hour and the water they are getting that is also polluted.

The Delhi Government made tall claims about the Sonia Vihar Water treatment plant but after the start of the plant there is still acute shortage of potable water in Delhi,''he said.

Dr Mukhi said the BJP had also asked for a discussion on the price rise. Prof Mukhi said the Delhi Govt repeatedly announced inside and outside the assembly that they would regularise unauthorised colonies without any charges on as is where is basis.

''But this announcement is only on paper and the people living in these colonies are in a pitiable condition. The BJP will force the Government to regularize these colonies without any charges.

The BJP will also raise the issue of liberalised liquor policy of the Delhi Government which is affecting the younger generation and leading to degradation of moral values,'' he said.
