Lifer for killer

Puducherry, Apr 10 (UNI) Puducherry Principal Districts and Sessions Judge M Chinna Pandy today convicted and sentenced a youth to life imprisonment in a murder case at Kalapet here in May 2004.

According to prosecution Sakthivel and Prakash, during a temple festival at Kalapet Prakash pushed Sakthivel down. In the ensued quarrel Sakthivel threatened to kill Prakash.

In the evening, Prakash went to Sakthivel's house to enquire about the threat, but Sakthivel was not there. However, when Prakash was about to return, Sakthivel came there and in a state of fear that Sakthivel may kill him, Prakash stabbed him. Later, he died in a hospital.

The judge also slapped a fine of Rs 5000 and another six months Rigorous Imprisonment in default.

In another murder case, Mr Chinna Pandi sentenced Aadinarayanan (40) to life and slapped Rs 5000 fine and on default six months RI.

Aadinarayanan on September 27, 2005 picked up a quarrel with his mother Kasiyamma when she refused to give him money for liquor.

Meanwhile, his sister Lakshmi intervened prompting him to quarel with her. Later, Kasiyamma intervened and he pushed her down and beat with a stick killing her on the spot.
