Internal security to be discussed in liaison meet

Bangalore, Apr 10 (UNI) Internal security, disaster management, defence land and infrastructure development are among the issues to be discussed at the Civil Military Liaison Conference, starting here tomorrow.

Karnataka Home, Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister M P Prakash would inaugurate the meeting.

From the State Government's side, the issues that were likely to be taken up were handing over of land by the Army and Air Force for widening roads, constructing storm water drains and laying over-bridges, a Defence release here said today.

The Army and Air Force were likely to raise issues relating to returning encroached land to the Army, removal of unauthorised buildings, hutments and unplanned development around airfields, VAT concession for canteen stores department, exemption of property tax and other welfare measures.

General Officer Commanding of Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala (ATNKK) area, Maj Gen B Sivashakar, the Chief Secretary, several Principal Secretaries of the Karnataka Government, DG and IGP and Commissioner of Police would attend the meeting. Senior officers of Army, Air Force and Navy in Bangalore would also participate in the meeting, the release said.
