I believe in equity-based society: Mayawati

Badaun, Apr 10 (UNI) BSP supremo and former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Mayawati today reiterated that she believed in the equity-based society and her party does not belong to any particular caste.

''It was due to my deep belief in equity-based society, that I gave adequate representation to all the religions and communities while distributing tickets,'' Ms Mayawati said while addressing an election gathering here.

The BSP has given 93, 113, 61 and 136 tickets to SC, backwards, Muslims and upper caste Hindus respectively. Of the 136 tickets to upper castes, Brahmins and Rajputs accout for 86 and 36 respectively,'' Ms Mayawati added.

Lambasting the opposition, she said ''by inviting celebrities in election gatherings, one can just entertain. It can never help them gain power as people support only those who are worth it.'' UNI
