HC reprieve for bar owners in Maharashtra
Mumbai, Apr 10 (UNI) The Bombay High Court today ordered the State government not to take any coercive action against liquor bar owners, for not paying the difference in licence fees, as per the notification issued by the State excise department on March 30.
The State excise department had demanded additional fees from bars and restaurants across the State as per the notification. This was in review of its own decision taken two months back.
A division bench of Justice F I Rebello and Justice R M Sawant, while ordering the State not to take coerceive action against bar and restaurant owners on the basis of the petitions challenging the additinal demand from the State excise department, directed the State to file an affidavit in reply.
The matter will now come up for hearing after two weeks.
