Flowserve to open .5 mn manufacturing facility

Chennai, Apr 10: Leading provider for fluid motion and control products and services Flowserve Corp. (NYSE:FLS) today announced the opening of its new pump manufacturing facility in Coimbatore at the investment of US dollar 8.5 million.

The state-of-the-art facility will support the company's existing Indian operations and provide pump products for oil and gas, power and chemical industries.

The one lakh sq ft pump facility on 14 acres to be inaugurated on April 12, will nearly double Flowserve's production capabilities for single state, multi-stage, barrel and vertical engineered and industrial pumps.

The 200 head management and engineering staff at the operation will also provide total pumping services and support to the region.

"With the industries, we serve significantly in the region. This new facility is designed to serve our customers more effectively and offer a technically advanced centre for manufacturing," Flowserve president and CEO Lewis M Kling told newspersons here.

Flowserve's products were designed to withstand extreme temperatures, caustic chemicals, intense pressures or other demanding conditions in some of the most remote and developing geographics, he said adding these products and services enable Flowserve to support criticial projects worldwide.

Mr Lewis said "this manufacturing facility is one of the most advanced in India." "In addition, it will be the first Flowserve plant outside the US to utlize the demand flow technology manufacturing process," he pointed out.
