Education Yatra in Haryana to increase enrollment in schools
Chandigarh, Apr 10 (UNI) The Haryana Government has decided to start a 'Siksha Adhikar Yatra' (Education Rights Drive) to reduce the number of 'out of school children' and to increase the enrolment of girls and dalit children in schools.
Giving details here today, Education Minister Phool Chand Mullana said that the Yatra will be the first massive, innovation community mobilisation and communication effort for increasing the enrolment in schools.
The Minister said the Yatra was in addition to the regular activities of the teachers of the primary and upper primary schools, who had been visiting the parents of the 'out of school children' and persuading them to enroll their children in the school. The Village Education Committee members had also been mobilised throughout the State for ensuring cent percent enrolment in the schools, he added.
He said in this Yatra the officers and officials of the education department, district project coordinators, state project implementation society, the community leaders, elders, children themselves and parents of disabled boys and girls would actively participate. He said that the Yatra would be helpful to increase the rate of enrolment in the primary and upper primary schools.
