Shajapur, MP, Apr 10 (UNI) Congress General Secretary and former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Digvijay Singh today alleged that the BJP Government has failed to maintain law and order in the state and demanded a CBI probe into recent incidents of communal violence.

Mr Singh told reporters here last night that communal violence in Beora, Sehore, Chhatarpur, Khandwa, Indore, Ujjain and other places in the past six months had claimed several lives besides causing damage to property.

Alleging that state police were working under pressure from the BJP, he said the RSS and its associated organisations were taking law into their hands.

Mr Singh said violence in Narsinghgarh could have been avoided and three people would have not lost their lives if police had taken stringent action against miscreants in Beora.

He said he will meet Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil and Congress President Sonia Gandhi and demand a CBI inquiry into the recent incidents of communal violence.

The Congress leader accused the state government of not allowing constitutional bodies like the Minorities Commission, the Women's Commission, the Scheduled Castes Commission and the Scheduled Tribes Commission to function in an impartial manner.
