New Delhi, Apr 10 (UNI) A local court today dismissed the two obligations filed on behalf of Sushil Ansal and Gopal Ansal, seeking permission to inspect the Uphaar cinema building, as a delaying tactic.

The prosecution argued that the statement of accused and other documents/ records are already on the record and the copy of the inspection note is also available with the accused and their lawyers. The applications by the accused are motivated and aimed at delaying the trial, the court observed.

The trial court had earlier framed charges against 16 accused including proprietor of Ansal properties, Sushil Ansal and Gopal Ansal, for their alleged involvement in the Uphaar fire tragedy on June 13, 1997, in which 59 people were killed and more than 100 injured.
