Cool weather abates, mercury rises to over 36 Degrees C

New Delhi, Apr 10 (UNI) Cool weather conditions in Delhi abated today with the mercury rising to over 36 degrees Celsius and the weatherman indicating a week of scorching heat ahead.

With decreasing intensity of Northwesterly winds, which had been providing relief to Delhiites from the scorching summer heat in the last few days, the maximum temperature rose to over 36 degrees Celsius, from 35.3 degrees Celsius yesterday.

The minimum temperature was recorded at 21.5 degrees Celsius, which is two degrees above normal.

The scorching heat in Delhi could intensify in the coming days with the met office forecasting a gradual rise in day temperatures in the next few days due to a decrease in the intensity of the Northerly winds.

''A gradual rise in day temperatures is likely over Northwest India over the next few days,'' the Met office said.

The met office has forecast a mainly clear sky in Delhi in the next 24 hours.

Heavy squalls and cool Northerly winds in the last few days have been providing relief to Delhiites from hot summer conditions.
