Cong only ray of hope in UP: Sonia

Bulandshahr, Apr 10 (UNI) Assailing the ruling Samajwadi Party (SP) government in Uttar Pradesh, AICC president Sonia Gandhi today said Congress is the only ray of hope in UP, where criminals rule the roost.

''Today, UP is known for its hardened criminals. I am sincerely concerned about the future generation...things will only turn from bad to worse, if Congress does not come to power,'' Ms Gandhi said while addressing an election gathering here.

Criticising Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav, Ms Gandhi said the SP chief was concentrating on heaping verbal trash on Congress, instead of working towards development of the state.

''The centre is not meting out step-motherly treatment to UP...I want to ask Mr Yadav about the utilisation of crores of rupees worth of development funds provided to UP.'' Coming down heavily on the opposition, the Congress chief said they should stop spreading communalism in the name of religion.
