BJP to condcut massive rally to Babli site
Vijayawada, Apr 10 (UNI) The Andhra Pradesh unit of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) would conduct a massive rally from different Telangana districts to the Babli project site tomorrow, in protest against the alleged illegal construction by Maharashtra government, Party Unit President Bandaru Dattatreya said here today.
Addressing a press conference, he said the BJP cadres and leaders would proceed to the site in 250 vehicles with a slogan 'babli roko telangana bachavo' starting from Pochampadu in Nizamabad district.
He said after visiting Sri Ram Sagar Project (SRSP), a public meeting would be held at Alumur before reaching the Babli site.
When reminded that the Maharashtra government imposed restrictions on visiting the site by leaders from different political parties in the state, Mr Dattatreya said ''we will come across it''.
Mr Dattatreya said the state government had totally 'failed' in mounting pressure on the Maharashtra government to stop the 'illegal' construction of the project.
Though the delegation of leaders from various political parties in Andhra Pradesh visited Delhi recently to apprise Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on the construction, he said unfortunately there was no firm assurance from Prime Minister for stopping it.
Mr Dattatreya said if the construction of Babli project was completed, about 60 tmc of inflow of water into the SRSP would be cut off, turning the Ayacut spread of five districts in Telangana region dry due to deprival of drinking water.
