AP CM fixes target of Rs one lakh crore to SHGs

Hyderabad, Apr 10 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today fixed an ambitious target of providing a whopping Rs one lakh crore as bank linkages to women Self-Help Groups(SHGs) in the State in the next three to four years.

Holding a video conference with the District Collectors ahead of the Prajapatham on April 14, the Ambedkar Jayanthi day, the Chief Minister told them this was not not at all difficult to achieve as the bank linkages to SHGs had increased ten folds in the last three years.

Noting that formation of SHGs in the urban areas were not upto the mark, he wanted the Collectors to ensure that six to seven lakh groups were formed in urban areas, including 50,000 groups in ''Greater Hyderabad''.

Dr Reddy, who reviewed the construction of weaker section housing, free power supply to farmers, implementation of the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme, directed them to ensure seven hours power supply to peasants for their pumpsets without fail and at the same time not not to put to inconvenience, domestic consumers with unscheduled power cuts.

He asked them to ensure enumeration of all farm pumpsets and installation of power-efficient capacitors.

Pulling up the Collectors of Nellore, East and West Godavari for slow progress in completion of ''INDIRAMMA'' houses to the poor, he wanted completion of targetted houses before the onset of monsoon.

He wanted them to gear up for the three phase ''Prajapatham'' from April 14 to 21, April 23 to 30 and May to nine and select beneficiaries for distribution of assets to beneficiaries on May 12 on the eve of the completion of three years of the Congress Government.
