Mumbai, Apr 10 (UNI) The BJP today countered the incident of tearing posters of Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi in the Upper house, by showing atleast five posters of Union agriculture minister Sharad Pawar that were not torn but given to the deputy chairman Vasant Davkhare.

The incident took place after the discussion on Katol incident involving the Revenue minister was completed. Leader of the opposition Pandurang Phundkar raised the issue of Modi's posters being torn by by NCP MLCs Jeetendra Avad and Madna Mhatre yesterday.

''We have got the posters of your leader, we can tear it but we will not,'' said Mr Phundkar as other BJP legislators showed Mr Pawar's posters.

Mr Phundkar said he spoke with the Gujarat energy minister on the government's demand of returning of 200 MW power from Maharashtra and said the incident was not the same as it was reported in a section of press and demanded that Mr Avad should apologize for the same.

Mr Avad tore the poster of Modi, saying that Mr Modi has asked the government to return 200 MW power, which it had given to Maharashtra.

Deputy Chief Minister R R Patil, who was present in the house, said tearing the posters of any leader in the house is wrong and such things should not happen.

Deputy chairman Vasant Davkhare expressed regret over the incident.
