ACP Bansal gets bail in bribery case

New Delhi, Apr 10 (UNI) Special CBI Judge I K Kochar today granted bail to R K Bansal, an ACP posted in the anti-extortion and robbery cell of the crime branch who had allegedly taken a bribe of Rs 1.5 lakh from a city-based diamond merchant through SI Jagdish Kumar.

There was a complaint against the Delhi-based merchant about irregularities in selling of gems.

It is alleged that SI Jagdish Kumar was arrested on January 31 while accepting Rs 1.5 lakh from the merchant for releasing him and not implicating him in the case.

The merchant had complained to the CBI which laid a trap and arrested Kumar.

R K Bansal had later surrendered before the court.
