Warrants issued against BSNL officials in Nitish Katara case

New Delhi, Apr 9 (UNI) A local court today issued bailable warrants against BSNL Ghaziabad officials for failing to appear before it in connection with the Nitish Katara murder case.

Additional Sessions Judge Ravinder Kaur issued warrants against officials concerned, who were issued summons on April 3. The warrants are to be executed till April 16.

The officials were summoned to give a verification report on some BSNL telephone numbers at Ghaziabad registered in the name of D P Yadav, father of prime accused Vikas Yadav, and his relatives.

According to prosecution several calls were made to Nitish and Nitin Katara from these numbers on February 16 and 17, 2002.

Vikas and Vishal Yadav, son and nephew of Uttar Pradesh politician D P Yadav, are accused of kidnapping and killing Nitish as they did not like his relationship with their sister Bharti.

Katara, son of an IAS officer, was murdered on the night intervening February 16-17, 2002 in Ghaziabad, where he had gone to attend the marriage of their common friend Shivani Gaur.
