Ambala, Apr 9 (UNI) Agitated over the poor results of matriculation examination, residents of Thakurpur village in the assembly constituency of Haryana Education Minister Phool Chand Mullana, locked a school and did not allow teachers to enter its premises today.

Of the 46 students who appeared in the examination, only 6 managed to pass that, too, with third division. The result of the school has not been more than 10 per cent for the last three years.

When the school was locked, some school teachers and other staff, who came late, remained standing outside the school premises.

However, the lock was opened and the teachers and other staff were allowed to go in on the intervention of District Education Officer Zile Singh Atree who reached the spot.

A drawing teacher Sukhdev and another employee Surjan Singh were suspended by the DEO and the case of suspension of a science teacher who acted as drawing and disbursement officer was sent to higher authorities for approval.

The villagers, insisted on the transfer of the entire staff of the school. They said they would meet the Education Minister shortly.

The village falls in the constituency of the Education Minister and the school has been getting sufficient funds for its improvement, but the results remained very poor.

The village sarpanch and other residents blamed the teachers for the poor results of the school.

The DEO, accepting the demand of the villagers, said that competent staff would be sent to the school.
