Vice President performs 'rudrabhishek' at Kashi Vishwanath

Varanasi, Apr 9 (UNI) Vice President Bhairon Singh Shekhawat performed the grand 'rudrabhishek' of the 'jyotirlinga' at the world famous Kashi Vishwanath temple here early today.

Mr Shekhawat visited the temple housing one of the 12 'jyotirlingas' at 0810 hrs amid tight security.

Resonance of vedic mantras were chanted by 11 brahmins clad in the religious sartorials. A total of 51 litres of milk was offered by the Vice President during the 'rudrabhishek,' temple sources told UNI.

Mr Shekhawat later offered prayers at the blast hit Sankatmochan temple.

The Vice President was in the holy city today as the Chief Guest at the 89th convocation of the Banaras Hindu University (BHU).
